Happy 69th Anniversary

Was looking at the calender and I could not figure out what the date January 12th meant. A birthday? Party? Eureka… January 12 is my grandparent’s wedding anniversary.. This glamorous couple who married right after World War II on January 12, 1946.  I love this wedding picture of them. It sits in my dining room and I love to look at the happy couple. My grandfather  had seen a lot in the war and my grandmother had come home after being in Washington DC serving in the Women’s Army Corps. Life was coming back to a new normal for them as they were to embark on their adult lives.

As a side note, I wore these same pearls on my wedding day as the ones my grandmother has around her neck. A wonderful to connection to my grandmother who had given them to me when I turned 16.

    1. I think so. Both worked hard to earn college degrees before and after the war. They sacrificed a lot to get educations for careers they loved. My grandfather was a teacher, artist and musician. My grandmother was a librarian who encouraged my love of reading. She was never without a book at her side.
